Did you know that November 3 was Godzilla Day, and that this year the King of Monsters is turning seventy years old?

If you didn’t, you do now, and to celebrate the occasion, Toho’s Godzilla Minus One as well as the movie’s remastered black-and-white rendition, Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, are heading back to U.S. theaters.

The Academy Award-winning film from writer-director Takashi Yamazaki has received critical and commercial praise, and its return to the big screen will please many a kaiju fan. This re-release will also include approximately thirteen minutes of exclusive bonus behind-the-scenes content, showcasing Japan’s struggle against the colossal threat of Godzilla in a post-war landscape.

“Set in a post-war Japan, Godzilla Minus One will once again show us a Godzilla that is a terrifying and overwhelming force,” Koji Ueda, President of Toho International, said in a statement when the film was first released. “The concept is that Japan, which had already been devastated by the war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into the ‘minus.’”

Godzilla Minus One returning to theaters is a definite positive, and you can see it again on the big screen starting on November 1, 2024. Head to the website, tickets.godzilla.com, to see if it’s playing at a cinema near you. icon-paragraph-end
